De grote site langs de Kliniestraat is eerder rustig gelegen en betekent voor de wijk een geborgen groen rustpunt, verscholen binnenin het bouwblok.

Een centrum voor dagverzorging voor hulpbehoevende senioren en een kinderdagverblijf ontdekken in deze site de ideale omgeving.

Het centrum voor dagverzorging biedt senioren naast de dagelijks (para-) medische verzorging ook een plaats om hechte sociale contacten te onderhouden. Tijdens een betekenisvolle, nuttige dagbesteding of bezoek aan het café.

Opmerkelijk is hoe het gebouw het gat in het bouwblok niet zomaar wil dichten, maar zich daarentegen zelfs dwars op het perceel plaatst. Daarnaast wordt het gebouw ook opgedeeld en opengetrokken in deelvolumes, op schaal van de wijk.

Ook het kinderdagverblijf, wat verder op de site, bestaat uit deelvolumes die naadloos aansluiten bij de schaal van de omgeving.

Elk deelvolume is modulair en wordt aan de centrale circulatie- en speelhal gekoppeld. Een leefgroep (bepaald per leeftijd) bestaat steeds uit twee gekoppelde units (slaap/hygiëne + recreatie).

De ouderen vinden in het kinderdagverblijf een dagelijkse nuttige bezigheid in de vorm van toezicht of andere hulp.

The big plot situated in the Kliniekstraat is a rather peaceful green area, hidden safely inside the dense city block.

On this plot, a care center for the elderly and a child day care find the optimal surroundings for their daily operations.

The care center for the elderly ofers daily (para-)medical care and an agreeable place for social interactions, encounters and plenty of meaningful activities. The bar on the ground floor acts as the ideal meeting place for the neighboring not-so-younglings.

Rather than traditionally closing the plot, the new building is placed crossways, thus guaranteeing easy acces and light.

The building is shifted and broken down into small subvolumes, mimicking the building scale of the neighborhood.

The child day care roughly follows the same parameters and is also made up out of different subvolumes, acting as one.

Every volume is modular en connected to the central circulation/recreation hall.

A unit (defined by age) consists of two linked volumes (sleep/hygiene + recreation).

The elderly find in the child day care an opportunity for a series of daily meaningful activities. This group of people can help around where they can and maybe even pass on some wisdom.
