Tabula rasa for le Carrefour de l'Europe.
The historical central station of Brussels by the hand of renowned architect Victor Horta is shamefully overshadowed by the chaotically underwhelming Carrefour de l'Europe. Subsequently both the building and the neighborhood lack the identity and grandiosity a central station in a city like Brussels should radiate.
This proposition introduces the central station as a functioning public pavilion amidst a green city oasis. Le Carrefour de l'Europe is replaced by an uncompromising urban forest engaging in dialogue with the built surroundings.
The building as well as the forest will form a new identity for the central station and the city center. Welcoming countless residents, commuters and tourists.

Een tabula rasa voor het Europakruispunt.
Het statige centrale stationsgebouw van Victor Horta wordt vandaag overschaduwd door de geplande esthetische én planologische wanorde op het Europakruispunt. De grandeur dat een centraal station en de buurt errond in een stad als brussel kan en zou moeten uitstralen is ver zoek.
Dit voorstel schuift het centraal station naar voor als een functioneel publiek paviljoen te midden van een groene stadsoase, pal in het centrum van de stad. Het huidige Europakruispunt wordt vervangen door een compromisloos stedelijk woud dat opmerkelijk in dialoog gaat met de bebouwde historische omgeving.
Niet zozeer het gebouw van Horta dan wel het bos an sich wordt het gezicht van het centraal station van Brussel voor inwoners, pendelaars en toeristen.
