All over the world a vast amount of shipping containers is left unused or dormant in the harbors.
This dynamic container stock is used in this design to formulate an answer regarding the ever-changing global demand for detention capacity.
The dormant shipping container is converted to an autonomous straightforward prison cell with a capacity of one prisoner.
Depending on the sentence, personal behavior and the detention time, the cell is linked to other shipping containers. Ranging from sanitary blocks over mutual living spaces to access to leisure and sporting facilities
A relocatable, modular detention system emerges whereby the moving and docking of the detention cells determines the environment of the prisoners.

Verspreid over de wereld staan ontelbare zeecontainers langdurig ongebruikt langs de kant.
In dit ontwerp wordt dit dynamisch containerbestand aangewend om een economisch en ecologisch antwoord te bieden op de immer veranderlijke vraag naar detenticapaciteit in de wereld.
De zeecontainer wordt omgebouwd tot autonome en beweegbare basiscel en biedt zo onderdak aan één gedetineerde.
Naargelang de strafmaat, persoonlijk gedrag en de evolutie van de straftijd van de gedetineerden, wordt de basiscel gekoppeld aan andere (uitbreidings-) containers.
Een verplaatsbaar, modulair systeem ontstaat waarbij het verplaatsen en koppelen van de gedetineerde de leefomgeving bepaalt.
